January 25, 2011 was the anniversary of my American life. One year ago, I was a regular high school student in China, studied hard preparing for college entrance exam. A phone call from my mother who I had not seen for more than three years changed the courses of my life.
At beginning, it was very difficult to fit in here. Using my second language to do everything in the new environment was a big challenge for me.
Fortunately, I met many excellent teachers who had helped me along the way. With their help and my diligence, I was able to accelerate and improve my English in the short period of time. I think my outgoing personality and strong will of overcoming obstacles were the main reasons I was able to adjust my life in the United States.
Procrastination is the personal trait I possess and wish to get fid of one day. I would have missed the opportunity of applying for National Honor Society if it was not for the extension of the deadline.
I really hope to become a member of National Honor Society, and receive more guidance and continue to improve in all aspects. I will work hard on everything in school, and try to eliminate my habit of procrastination, and finish everything quickly.

I know the National Honor Society is one of the oldest and largest recognition programs for high school students in grades 10-12 in the United States of America. This organization gives lots of students impetus to study hard, because it is a huge honor to a high school student to become a member of this organization, and members can get excellencies from other members in the National Honor Society.
If I have the honor to become a member of the National Honor Society, I will strive to improve myself on Leadership, Scholarship, Character and Community Service, all four areas that National Honor Society values.
I really love National Honor Society’ mentor program and I would be honored to participate in it. I also think National Honor Society should start a tutorial program to help students who are struggling with school works.
I know National Honor Society requires a lot of work for various events, and I am ready to commit to all the hard work ahead of me if I am chosen to be a National Honor Society member.
